It is dedicated to Bradley Althoff (associate producer of Pipedreams, the weekly public radio show devoted to exploring the organ through recordings of performances at new and historic organs, interviews with composers, organists, and organ builders and restorers).

Carpenter's performance notes for this work say simply, No registration; just dynamics and signs to observe or omit, encouraging other organists to improvise.
